Jolida

What is a JoLida?

  • A privately held company that was incorporated in the state of Maryland in 1983.
  • Until 1995, JoLida’s primary line of business was the fabrication of vacuum tubes, cavities and assorted electronic parts.
  • In 1995, JoLida launched a line of Integrated Stereo Tube Amplifiers in the US market.

How did we get into the amplifier business?

In 1993, JoLida designed a series of large transformers for an industrial customer in which one of the main design criteria was low noise characteristics over a wide signal. It was then suggested that if the size of the transformers were reduced, they would be highly applicable to tube amplifier transformer. Please note that in a tube amplifier, the transformer is the heart of the unit. The market criteria was that the bulk of our line would have to retail below $1,000. We just believed that the world did not need another $4,000 amplifier.

In January of 1995, the first of the amplifier line was introduced at the 1995 Las Vegas Consumer Electronics Show (CES) and resulted in winning two Engineering Design and Innovation Awards from the Electronic Industrial Association in spite of a skeptical dealer audience.

What are the major design criteria for our products?

Although this question does not exactly fit background information in terms of who, what, when, where and how, it does provide the reader a glimpse of our approach into the design and manufacture of JoLida product.

Superior Sound in its price category.

Reliability and safety: A function of manufacturing with quality parts, design and quality control.

Utility: We believe that in a single household, there will be multiple users and multiple uses. The issue is not just to have the amplifier to perform, it had to bring quality sound to the reproduction of the Back Street Boys as well as Mozart.

Value: This is balance between the actual cost of the system and how often it is used. Value is when the system becomes a part of the fabric of the person’s quality of life.
